The Third Eye Kiss

Such a wonderful, healing gesture that takes very little effort, yet can do so much for an individual.

All one has to do is softly press their lips on the forehead of another, in the center, slightly above the eyebrows. It’s that simple. What does this beautiful act do? “It activates the pineal and pituitary gland of the person and brings a sense of security and well-being to the person.” ~ www.WisdomHealingCenter.com.

When the glands are stimulated, melatonin is released which is a hormone that humans and animals produce that regulates sleep and wakefulness. Hence, a goodnight kiss on the forehead might be just what the doctor could order for those who may be suffering from insomnia.

Here is something else I found interesting. Our pineal glands produce the most potent psychedelic known to man, dimethyltryptamine. Researchers of dimethyltryptamine suggest that it may help encourage personal empowerment, decrease the symptoms of depression and anxiety, and inspire self esteem, just to name a few. So, with all that being said about the pineal gland, it makes even more sense why the third eye kiss is so beneficial to one’s well-being!

It could also bridge the gap between two souls wanting to connect on a more spiritual level, therefore creating a closer bond with the mind, body and Spirit….. a Universal connection on so many levels.

Our Beloved Tin Man with a Grisly Axe to Grind

Nick Chopper, who followed in his father’s footsteps, made a living cutting down trees throughout the forests in the magical land of Oz. Once, his heart belonged to a beautiful Munchkin maiden named Nimmie Amee. They were both so in love that they planned to marry until the spiteful woman who Nimmie Amee served bribed the Wicked Witch of the West to put a horrible spell on the axe of the Munchkin maiden’s beloved woodman. Why would the old woman request such a terrible thing from the Wicked Witch? Because the miserly crone wanted to keep Nimmie Amee all to herself as a servant.

The Wicked Witch obliged the old woman’s bride and enchanted Nick Chopper’s axe to prevent the lovers from becoming betrothed. Nick’s axe, under the spell of the Wicked Witch, one by one chopped off his arms and legs. The tinsmith known as Ku-Klip replaced the woodman’s limbs with prosthetic ones made out of tin.

After the gruesome deed was finished, nothing remained of the poor woodman’s body. Nick Chopper was replaced entirely by tin except for one thing….. his heart. Ku-Klip failed to replace it. Once Nick’s body was completely made out of tin, he was no longer able to love Nimmie Amee.

As the story goes in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz written by L. Frank Baum, the tin woodman is befriended by a sweet, young girl named Dorothy and her little dog, Toto. She discovers him in the forest rusty and unable to move. With the use of his oil can she’s able to release him from his paralyzed state. Elated, the Tin Man follows Dorothy’s lead to the Emerald City so he can ask the Wizard for a new heart. Along their journey they are joined by two others, the Cowardly Lion and The Scarecrow.

Upon their arrival to the Emerald City, the Wizard sends the four travelers to Winkie Country where the Wicked Witch of the West lives and kill her. The Tin Man’s axe becomes quite useful during their quest, not only for chopping wood to build bridges or rafts when needed, but the enchanted blade proves worthy for cutting off the heads of animals that try to harm the Tin Man and his friends.

The Wicked Witch sends her dreaded winged monkeys to attack them. Then they grab the Tin Man and from high above, the evil monkeys purposely drop him causing his landing to be brutally damaging to his body. After the fight was over, Dorothy and the others are able to bring on the Wicked Witch’s demise. That’s when the Winkie Country’s tinsmiths are able to repair our beloved Tin Man.

As fans of this classic tale know that the Cowardly Lion was able to get his courage from the Wizard “Only during the aftereffects of the Wizard’s gift, when he is under the influence of an unknown liquid substance that the Wizard orders him to drink (perhaps gin) is he not filled with fear.” ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowardly_Lion

… and the Scarecrow “In reality, he is only two days old and merely ignorant. Throughout the course of the novel, he demonstrates that he already has the brains he seeks and is later recognized as “the wisest man in all of Oz,” although he continues to credit the Wizard for them. He is, however, wise enough to know his own limitations and all too happy to hand the rulership of Oz, passed to him by the Wizard, to Princess Ozma, to become one of her trusted advisors, though he typically spends more time playing games than advising.” ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarecrow_(Oz)

… and Dorothy wanted to go back home to her Auntie Em and Uncle Henry.

The Tin Man wanted a heart, but the Wizard, not being as powerful as he originally portrayed, was only able to give the Tin Man a placebo heart created from a silk pouch that was filled with sawdust. Believe it or not, this satisfied the Tin Man, who actually was the kindest of Dorothy’s friends.

After Dorothy returned home to Kansas, the Tin Man went to Winkie Country where he became the emperor. As time went by, he had his subjects build his palace completely out of tin, even the flowers in the garden were made from the shiny material.

So, a bizarre tale for a man who only wanted to marry his true love. Throughout my life I’ve always been such a fan of The Wizard of Oz, but honestly did not know of the extremity of how the woodman became our beloved Tin Man. “Wow!” Is all I can say….

Spooky Random Fact…… “Wiccaphobia”

“Wiccaphobia” … now this phobia is rather interesting to me…..

Why? Because of my own personal beliefs and spiritual journey. Wiccaphobia: which is the fear of witches and/or witchcraft. I am Wiccan, a solitary one who practices the use of white magic, and there’s definitely no reason to fear anything I do. I only believe in promoting love and light. I am well aware of those who practice dark magic, and I also stay away from them. However, that doesn’t mean that I fear them.

But respectfully, it’s easy to fear that which one doesn’t understand. It takes strength, courage and faith to overcome adversity. That’s why I always encourage educating oneself. It helps to eliminate misinformation and eradicate fears.

To learn more about other phobias, including Samhainphobia: which is the fear of Halloween, read more at Phasmophobia: A Ghostly Fear.

Phasmophobia: A Ghostly Fear

Do you have a fear of ghosts, anything ghoulish that goes bump in the night and causes fright? Well, if you do, then don’t worry because millions of others do, too. It’s a very common fear known as “phasmophobia”. The word “phasmos” derives from the Greek language referring to “phantom” or “supernatural being”. It’s also known as “spectrophobia”. “Spectrum” is Latin referring to a specter, or an image of a thing, or an apparition.

Symptoms of phasmobia can typically be found in most disorders that lead to anxiety. A sufferer can go through feelings of dread, rapid heartbeat, panic attacks, also nausea and severe vomiting. It’s even been reported that a person suffering from phasmosphobia can develop OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) in order to conduct rituals to negate any kind of ghostly presence.

However, one can find treatment for such a fear. Self help methods can be extremely successful by reaching out to someone to openly talk about it to help eradicate the phobia by facing it. Another way is to contact professional help so that the phobia of ghosts can be removed. I always suggest to anyone who believes they’re experiencing any kind of ghostly activity to contact their local paranormal investigative team. It’s been from my own experiences that I’ve found these teams are compiled of members who are intelligent, non-judgmental and extremely open-minded, and are very willing to help to the best of their ability. Many of my friends are paranormal investigators and I always feel comfortable and at ease when working with them.

Also, the relaxation method of meditation (which I highly recommend) can help calm one’s inner turmoil, creating more focus, therefore a sense of confidence to bring forth a well-balanced mental state of mind. And…. having a close relationship with one’s spirit guide is something else I recommend. I work very closely with mine and by doing so, I have absolutely no fear.

There’s even a “specific phobia” involving a ghastly fear of mirrors. This macabre phobia is referred to as “catoptrophobia” which derives from the Greek language for the word “mirror”. Now I mentioned “specific phobia”, which simply refers to any type of anxiety disorder that signifies an illogical fear of the exposure of a specific item and/or situation which can eventually lead to the distressed individual avoiding all contact with the item and/or situation. The fear can actually be so paralyzing to the individual’s mental state that it literally disrupts their life.

Here are a few more phobias that I found to be rather interesting.

Achluphobia: which is the fear of darkness.

Eisoptrophobia: which is the fear of one’s own reflection.

Samhainphobia: which is the fear of Halloween.

And…. Wiccaphobia: which is the fear of witches and/or witchcraft.

The last phobia I had to include. Why? Because of my own personal beliefs and spiritual journey. I am Wiccan, a solitary one who practices the use of white magic, and there’s definitely no reason to fear anything I do. I only believe in promoting love and light. I am well aware of those who practice dark magic, and I also stay away from them. But that doesn’t mean that I fear them.

It’s easy to fear that which one doesn’t understand. It takes strength, courage and faith to overcome adversity.

“…I am perfectly aware that the fear of ghosts is contrary to science, reason and religion. If I were sentenced to spend a night alone in a graveyard, … I should already know that twigs would snap and the wind moan and that there would be half-seen movements in the darkness. And yet, after I had been frog-marched into the graveyard, I should feel a thrill of fear every time one of these things happened…” ~  Philosopher, Peter van Inwagen

“Angels & Their Connection Hotlines”

Have you ever seen a number that just kept appearing out of nowhere, at random times? Like for instance, about a week or so ago, the number 1111 showed itself to me at three separate times. (And it literally just hit me as I’m writing this that the number 1111 repeated itself to me three times!) The number 3 in any form has always had strong symbolism for me. *The Angelic meaning of “3” represents that the Ascended Masters are with an individual, aiding the person with guidance of love and light.*

I was also born on the third day of the third month. So, the number 3 has always been extremely prevalent for me all throughout my entire life on so many levels.

And getting back to when I saw the number 1111…. this number symbolizes the invite to awaken oneself to embracing the bigger picture and to focus on the opportunity of what lies ahead. It is a time of thought manifestation, bringing thought into reality. Meaning, like I always say, “Positive Vibes Only!”…. having positive thoughts will manifest positive things and negative thoughts will manifest negative things. With that being said, when seeing the number 1111, make sure to be thinking positive thoughts (constantly). A powerful gateway of energy has been opened up for you from the Higher Realm of Spirit. This is an important time of acknowledgement and enlightenment. Know that the Angels are by your side with guidance and support.

When I saw the number 1111 repeat itself, it automatically gave me goosebumps because I’ve recently begun to lessen the negativity around me and to start “listening within” to my inner voice, hearing the messages that I receive from the Angelic Realm and feeling their love and positive energy. What a wonderful feeling of enlightenment! I truly feel blessed and grateful!

Recently I wrote “Spooky Random Fact: #2” about the number 666 and how it’s nothing to fear. The number, due to misinformation, continues to be misunderstood. As I mentioned in the “Spooky Random Fact”, the number 666 actually has an empowering meaning behind it. It symbolizes the need for us to take a step back to re-evaluate our current condition and learn to let go of the fear and material things that tend to take us off our spiritual journey. It’s a message that we need to bring our focus back to our hearts and learn to listen within so that we can reach a level of higher learning of love and compassion. You can say that it’s like a “warning” message that we are being too negative with our thoughts, therefore the path of our daily lives, and that we should regain control by reinforcing ourselves with the positive energy of love and light. So, if you ever find yourself seeing the number 666, don’t fear it. Merely stop what you’re doing and take a moment of reflection and see how you can change your life for the better by incorporating the power of positive affirmation.

The above numbers were out of chronological order, but the following are and you might have seen them and maybe even resonate with them…..

If you’ve ever seen the number 222, it refers to a new beginning, the need to move forward. Be willing to accept the next chapter in life.

Seeing the number 333 means that the Ascended Masters are around you. This number is a reminder that you are a master in training and that you have infinite power within you to create greatness, not just for yourself, but for others as well.

The Angelic number 444 symbolizes the need to focus on your inner wisdom and recognize the strong connection that you have with the Angelic Realm. Be fearless and confident.

If you see the number 555, this refers to an upcoming change in your life that will take place in the immediate future. So, stay strong and remain positive. Things will work out accordingly.

The number 777. When seeing this, it sends the message to embrace and acknowledge your awareness to knowing yourself better. You are working more perfectly with the Universe, being more aligned with your life’s purpose, bringing forth positive energy of love and light into the world as a lightworker.

The Angels sending number 888. This means that the Universe is sending good things your way for past achievements, including good Karmic energy, and a harmonious balance in all aspects of your life.

If you see the number 999, it symbolizes a time of closure, letting go of the past without any judgmental fears. Accept things that happened with love and light. Your intuition will always be true to you, to guide you. So don’t be afraid to trust it. Your intuition is there to help.

When the Angels send the number 000, it’s a message informing you that you are at “Oneness” with the Creator and that you are in tune with your Higher Self.

When the numbers that come to us are viewed in “3’s” (like 999 or 888, etc….), it’s a strong message of our powers that are manifesting. The number that is tripled simply means that its power has increased more rapidly.

Now there are so many more Angelic numbers with extremely important messages, but the above mentioned are just to name a few. I would love to hear from all of you! Have you received any messages to share from the Angelic Realm? If so, what are the numbers you’ve seen and how have you incorporated the messages into your daily lives?

~ Always feel free to call upon the Angels. They are always there for you, happy to assist any way they can. ~

Death’s Design

“By accepting what lies beyond Death’s door, we allow ourselves to fear no more.”

~ Sheila Renee Parker ~

Lately, I’ve been watching Final Destination; all of the films within the series. It’s morbid how many grotesque ways death is portrayed in each movie. The chain of tragic events that continue to snowball until the last victim meets their demise is truly twisted.

However, as disturbing as these films are, they got me to thinking. Now I’m well aware that death is inevitable and there’s no running from it (like the people try to do in the movies), but does death really have a design as theorized in the fictional flicks of Final Destination?

Death, throughout the ages, has been ghoulishly personified as the Grim Reaper, giving him a dark, hooded presence with skeletal hands wielding a scythe waiting to claim one’s soul. No wonder so many are terrified of Death. I mean, come on…. if a big, scary dude that looked like that started chasing after me, I would run like hell to get away from him, too. And then, what happens once he’s caught ya? It’s horrifying, right?! The kind of stuff nightmares are totally made of!

But here’s where my thinking gets weird, a creepy notion to ponder. Instead of fearing the unknown, how about facing it head on with strength and perseverance? Losing a loved one is never easy. Like others, I know that pain all too well. Since April I lost my aunt, and then on this past Friday, her husband…… It’s definitely been a rough time….

But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve begun to accept things more differently. Meaning that a passing, regardless of how tragic and sudden it may be, happens beyond our control. Now I’m not trying to sound insensitive by any means, but by accepting what is, as it is, will help to heal the heart. Again, it is inevitable, we just have to be strong and know that we are not alone.

“Master, may I have another fly, please? I’m so hungry…..”

Notably known as “The Fly Man”, R. M. Renfield is a fictional character from the widely renowned horror Gothic novel, Dracula written by Bram Stoker in 1897. Under the care of Dr. Jack Seward and his insane asylum, mental patient Renfield falls victim to the alluring spell of the infamous Count Vlad Dracula. “The vampire, whose abilities include control over animals such as rats, bats and spiders, comes to Renfield with an offer: if Renfield worships him, he promises to make him immortal by providing an endless supply of insects and rats, as Renfield believes that blood is the source of life.” ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renfield

Anyone familiar with this iconic story knows that Renfield likes to munch on insects, like a movie-goer with a tub of popcorn. *Eeeww… sorry, I had a brief shudder moment just thinking about it.* As grotesque as it sounds, according to Stoker’s famed novel, Renfield honestly did believe it gave him immortality.

Now we all know that this is not true, but there actually is a medical condition referred to as Renfield’s Syndrome. It’s also known as Clinical Vampirism which is the obsession with drinking what? BLOOD! (Insert theatrical sound effects here…. *bum bum BUMMM!!*) That’s right! The act of people really doing this is nothing made up.

“The earliest formal presentation of clinical vampirism to appear in the psychiatric literature, with the psychoanalytic interpretation of two cases, was contributed by Richard L. Vanden Bergh and John F. Kelley in 1964.[1] As the authors point out, brief and sporadic reports of blood-drinking behaviors associated with sexual pleasure have appeared in the psychiatric literature at least since 1892 with the work of Austrian forensic psychiatrist Richard von Krafft-Ebing. Many medical publications concerning clinical vampirism can be found in the literature of forensic psychiatry, with the unusual behavior reported as one of many aspects of extraordinary violent crimes.[2][3][4]” ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinical_vampirism

Wow! With that being said, upon doing research I discovered that those who have Renfield’s Syndrome include a variety of people. Some are happy to make public their “need to feed”, while others are extremely private about it. Even some serial killers have been known to have this blood-thirsty condition.

For example:

Richard Chase, a.k.a. “The Vampire of Sacramento” (California), killed six people in one month. He ate from their flesh and drank their blood. In December 1980, he committed suicide in his prison cell. He overdosed on the anti-depressant medication prescribed by his doctor that he had been saving up for quite some time.

Fritz Haarmann, a.k.a. “The Vampire of Hanover” (Germany), killed at least twenty-seven people. He committed many of his murders by biting through his victims’ throats. In April 1925, he was executed by guillotine. His last words? “I repent, but I do not fear death.”

Peter Kürten, a.k.a. “The Vampire of Dusseldorf” (Germany), killed at least nine people. It was reported that he drank the blood of several of his victims. In July 1931, he was executed by guillotine.

Roderrick Justin Ferrell, a sixteen year old who claimed he was Vesago, a five hundred year old vampire. He joined a group of teenagers that referred to themselves as “The Vampire Clan”. In 1998 Roderrick became the youngest person to be put on death row in the United States. He was found guilty of murdering a couple in Florida. Since his conviction, his penalty has been reduced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

And this last one….. not a serial killer, but still a very disturbing story!

James P. Riva, a.k.a. “The Schizophrenic Vampire”, a deranged individual who claimed that he was a seven hundred year old vampire. In April 1980, he stabbed his elderly grandmother in her heart and then shot her four times using bullets that he had painted gold. Prior to setting her house on fire in a poor attempt to cover up his heinous crime, he drank her blood. In 1981 James was sentenced to life in prison for second degree murder and arson in Marshfield, Massachusetts.

As fascinated as I am by the whole idea of vampirism that has been romanticized by the Gothic era and Bram Stoker’s amazing novel, Dracula, I would never justify any such act as the above mentioned by the twisted individuals that harbored such a horrific darkness in their hearts. What they did was completely unfathomable.

But…. Do I love a good vampire tale? Of course I do! I mean, come on…. I recently wrote a short story titled, My Phantom Traveler based on the lore. One of my all time fave films is The Lost Boys! Still love the grandpa in that movie, he cracks me up every time I see it! Him using Windex as aftershave when he went to see the old widow Johnson…. lol…. crazy stuff!

So, do vampires really exist or is it all just folklore? For those who have Renfield’s Syndrome, it’s pretty real to them……

Hmmm….. a little something to ponder while sinking one’s fangs into their next meal…. *thinking to myself as I run my tongue across my naturally pointy teeth.* (and yes, I’ve often been told that my pearly whites resemble those of the fanged creatures.)

“My Phantom Traveler”

“Darling, Darkness, lover of mine, with my bite I’ll drink your wine. Pierce thy flesh beneath the skin and allow the flow of your sweet crimson.” ~ Sheila Renee Parker

People call it, “Land beyond the hills.”, but not me. I call it home. Sona, Romania is where my family has lived for generations. Some as traders, some as farmers, and then there’s my father. He’s a dignitary who answers to the King. As far as my mother goes, I never got to meet her. She died during childbirth. The day I was born was the last day she took breath. My father still speaks of her often, fondly with tears in his eyes. Even though it’s been nineteen years, I know that his heart continues to beat only for her.

The evening was filled with a dusk colored sky as the sun slowly vanished behind the trees. In my carriage, I was on route to pick up my father from the castle where he was discussing politics with the King. I’ve always found the meetings to be rather boring, so every time he attended was when I’d have our driver take me out for a ride.

The air was damp from the late afternoon rain and the carriage’s wooden wheels jolted with every mud puddle they splashed. The atmosphere was soggy, and yet, there was still a certain calmness that I felt to be quite serene.

As we trailed through the woods, nearing the village, just up the distance was a figure walking ahead to the side of the road. With my parasol I knocked on the ceiling of the carriage to tell the driver to stop. My curiosity was oddly drawn to this peculiar character wearing a dirty brown, hooded robe that dragged the earth with each step that he took. It was stained with mud from the feet up. However filthy as he was, there was something undeniably alluring about this strange man.

I called out to him as the horses were coming to a stop.  “Need a ride?”

He didn’t respond and for some odd reason that bothered me.

“You, peasant!” I forcefully spoke, demanding his response.

Obviously, I had struck a nerve because he came to a halt. His pose stiffened as he raised his head, turning his face in my direction. Through the long, fallen hair in his eyes, and just past the edge of his hood, he looked at me with a savage glare in his eyes.

“What do you want?”  He growled.

“I….. I…..” I stammered to speak for he caught me off guard with his harshness.

“Ah… now you can’t speak.” He grinned heinously.

“Ma’am?” The driver interrupted. “We must be going. You’re father…”

I hushed the driver to stop and pleaded for another moment.

“Mustn’t keep your father waiting.” Toyed the hooded one.

I froze, couldn’t understand what I was doing. Normally I would have never stopped for a complete stranger, especially one so unkempt and impudent, but there was something about him that made me extremely inquisitive and I had to find out why.

“Get in!” I demanded. “We’re heading in that direction and you appear to need a ride.”

“Well, my feet are worn and I have grown tired.” He mumbled.

Without saying another word I opened the carriage door and motioned for him to come inside. He hesitated, then gathered his composure. While taking the seat across from me I warned him to keep his distance. His gaze began at my feet and his eyes eerily went all the way up my body to meet mine. He slightly shook his head as he grinned, “Can’t make any promises.”

“I’m warning you!” I urged.

“Relax.” The hooded vagrant said. There was an uneasy calm that immediately overcame me as he continued to speak. “Now, tell your driver to drive.”

Quietly, I obeyed his command and knocked on the ceiling of the carriage to do so. Suddenly, it was as if this bizarre character was in charge of me and I was no longer in control. What just happened? One minute I felt strong and then the next, I felt completely powerless.

“What’s your name?” He asked while making sure to keep his eyes locked onto mine. It was making me feel uncomfortable and regretting picking him up.

“Your name?” He asked again. His eyes darkened as they bore deeper into my soul.

“Angelika.” My lips whispered cautiously. I slowly pressed my back firmly against my seat, an attempt to get far enough away from him as I possibly could. He immediately took notice of my move and snickered. His eyes continued to stare into mine as if he were trying to figure me out, read me like an unwritten script.

And then….. “Ahhh….. “ a malefic grin stretched across his face. “Like an angel.”

“Pardon me?” I quickly responded.

This nasty, foul person leaned towards me and callously continued. “Ha! Your name. It means ‘like an angel’. Ironic, don’t you think?”

“What do you mean?” I snarled, advancing his lean with the same inconsiderate attitude he was giving me.

His harsh breath filled my nostrils and I could literally feel every word that he spoke on my face. “You. Me. Together in this moment. An angel and I.” He laughed. “It amuses me.”

“I’m far from being an angel.” I protested abruptly.

“Ha! Of course you are.” He added while leaning back into his seat.

Suddenly, the moment grew quiet and still with a sense of wickedness that I couldn’t overcome.

“Should you tell your driver to stop and let me off?” He quietly mouthed while watching the trees as we passed them by.

“No.” Was all I could reply. It was as if however vile this rugged character was, I didn’t want him to leave. His presence was captivating and I wanted him near. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. His hair was long and dark with a certain wave about it. The straggly whiskers on his face concealed an age that I couldn’t quite collect, but that didn’t stop my inquisitiveness about him.

“Why are you looking at me?” He asked while staring out the window.

“What? I’m not.” I was too embarrassed to be honest with my response, so I sheepishly looked down at my dress, pretending to brush off road dust that obviously wasn’t there.

“Your eyes, I can feel them on me.” He smiled, slowly turning his head in my direction.

“No.” I quickly interjected, but before I could speak any further, he was across the carriage leaning his brute body into mine. Through his robe I could feel his chest muscles press against my bosom.

“You like that, don’t you?” He smiled gloriously like a victor claiming his prize.

With all my will I wanted to deny his advance, but was well aware that I physically wouldn’t be able to. He towered over me, conquering my every rejection.

“You can’t resist me.” The words whispered from his icy lips as they lingered down my neck. His breath became cold like death and yet, I still wanted him more.

I shivered from his touch. “Please!” I begged.

“Please, what? Stop?” He looked into my eyes with an enraptured darkness that continued to lure me in.

“Or would you like for me to…..?” His kissing persisted as his hands began to explore my body. He unlaced my bodice, exposing the skin beneath my dress. I had become utterly vulnerable to him as he proclaimed my innocence. He penetrated me, taking what I could no longer take back, and I loved it, every sensual moment of it! He made me feel things I had never felt before. A defeated fear that had completely disappeared. He replaced it with a voracious need that made me desire more. My legs wrapped around his waist, inviting him even deeper into me. Without hesitation he quickly obliged, causing me to moan uncontrollably.

The driver apparently heard us because he called out. “Ma’am, is everything all right?”

“Faster!” I screamed in ecstasy.

“Keep going!” My bearded flame demanded the driver.

We could feel our carriage gathering speed which only intensified the atmosphere. Our mood became more fierce, more sensual and totally adulterated. His carnal spell had me undoubtedly under his control and we were making love like two wild beasts. It was erotic in every sense of the word.

His kisses became harder and more fervent. I could feel the sharpness of his teeth as he nibbled my neck. There was pain, slightly, but with an invitation that tingled with anticipation. I gladly exposed my neck even more, welcoming him to take me.

With his deep voice he softly spoke. “Darling, Darkness, lover of mine, with my bite I’ll drink your wine. Pierce thy flesh beneath the skin and allow the flow of your sweet crimson.”

And it was in that exact, beautiful moment that I could feel my old life end and a new one begin. Confidence, elegance and even arrogance brought on with strength, wisdom and power was immediately bestowed upon me. Was I still under his spell or were my eyes finally opened to a reality unveiled? What had this stranger done to me?

I looked deep into his eyes for answers. “Who are you?” I begged to know.

With a charming smile he replied. “To some a monster, to many a prince, but to you, my love…. “ He quietly paused. “I am Vlad.”

I gasped in disbelief. And just like that he was gone, vanished from the presence before me. His hooded robe, his smell, his very essence were all gone within an instant. I sat there in that vacant moment, clutching my disheveled dress, questioning the mere validity of my sanity. Was it all simply a dream? I quivered at the thought.

We drove a ways down the road. The streets were becoming brighter as the light from the lanterns illuminated the impending night. We were entering the village where my father was. When we arrived at the castle, the carriage came to a stop and I found myself not being able to move. I sat there with my head against the seat, asking myself, “Did I really spend the evening with a man named Vlad?” And if so, how did he vanish into thin air?

Then I thought, “Vlad the Impaler?! Prince of Darkness?!” But that was impossible because he died almost a century ago and the legend of him being a vampire was merely just that…. a legend. Right?!

The driver opening the carriage door suddenly broke my confused concentration. “Ma’am?”

“Huh? Ah, yes.” I quietly said while taking his hand as he lead me outside.

“Where’s the gentleman that we picked up?” He asked, looking throughout the carriage.

I couldn’t answer him. All I could do was shake my head while stumbling for the words.

Then, the immediate shock on the driver’s face as he looked at me. His eyes trembled with fear. “Your neck!”

“What do you mean?” I asked him while reaching for my neck with my left hand. It was wet and warm. Puzzled, I looked down at my fingertips. They were covered with blood, my blood. I could feel the bite mark where my dark lover had bitten me. I smiled because that was the confirmation that I needed for it wasn’t just a dream, it was definitely a reality. A beguiling one shared intimately with my phantom traveler.

“Embrace the Dark, but live the Light.”

“I love the Light as much as I love the Dark. It’s such a beautiful balance.”

~ Sheila Renee Parker

I openly embrace both, the Light and the Dark, and that’s with life in general. The reason for this, I truly believe, is that by doing so it helps me to better understand things, to open my perspective of my surroundings. To have one without the other is irrational. The balance becomes heavily outweighed. There can’t be Light without Dark, nor Dark without Light.

Now, that doesn’t mean that I condone violence or hatred of any kind. Absolutely not! I live by the Rede, “An it harm none, do what ye will.” And I am a huge believer in Karma. But what I am referring to when I say that I embrace the Dark as much as I do the Light, is that we all have our moments. We’re not always going to have the perfect life. However, I do believe that life is what we make it. We’re occasionally all going to have that “off-beat” moment when we may feel like “blah”, and that’s perfectly o.k. Life’s not always going to be peachy keen and we need to accept those “Dark” times. Embrace them for they are the moments that help us to become stronger and appreciate the “Light” moments all the more. Even the darkest of moments can’t survive when the tiniest of light exists. There is a radiant spark within us all. Let it light the way to empowerment!

Be proud of who you are and love the individual you’ve become. You are worthy of what you deserve. We all harness the power to achieve greatness. Dream. Believe. Achieve!

Love & Light! ~ Sheila

Masking the Dead

Not necessarily the type of accessory I’d want to wear with a Halloween or Masquerade Ball costume. However macabre this kind of mask may seem, it’s still rather fascinating to learn about.

According to Wikipedia, “A death mask is an image, typically in wax or plaster cast made of a person’s face following death, often by taking a cast or impression directly from the corpse. It is a primitive, yet most accurate, form of photography without a camera. Death masks may be momentos of the dead, or be used for creation of portraits….. The main purpose of the death mask from the Middle Ages until the 19th century was to serve as a model for sculptures in creating statues and busts of the deceased person.”

Even back during the ancient Egyptian times, masks were specifically created to put on the faces of the dead. To the living, it was considered to be very fashionable.

Famous death masks throughout history include:

Napoleon Bonaparte: French Military leader who died May 5, 1821 from a stomach ulcer.

Ludwig van Beethoven: German composer who died March 26, 1827 due to a post-hepatitic cirrhosis of the liver.

Aaron Burr: 3rd U. S. Vice President who served during Thomas Jefferson’s first term. Burr died September 14, 1836 from a stroke.

Abraham Lincoln: 16th President of the United States. Died April 15, 1865. Assassinated by American actor, John Wilkes Booth.

John Dillinger: American gangster who died July 22, 1934. Killed by gunfire during a shootout with federal agents.

Nikola Tesla: Serbian – American engineer, inventor and physicist. Died January 7, 1943 from a coronary thrombosis.

James Dean: American actor who died September 30, 1955 in a car accident.

Here are a few death masks of some pretty twisted individuals who were criminals that died by execution.

Johann Hatschwanz: Executed for murdering his wife by arsenic poisoning.

Johanne Rehn: Decapitated for murdering her daughter.

Carl Gottlob Irmscher. Decapitated for murdering his wife and child.

And I wouldn’t dare leave out the death mask of a very enchanting young woman who’s identity will forever remain unknown, but has intrigued so many with her peaceful beauty. The ever so elegant, L’Inconnue de la Seine, who died more than a century ago, but is now recognized as the serene face of CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation), Resusci Anne.

Looking at these faces, there’s a macabre sense of immortality. The eternal slumbering expressions that these death masks possess make it seem as if the individuals will wake up at any given moment. They will forever be timeless in their own curious way.
