A Ghostly Perspective

This next post was inspired by a film that I’ve recently watched titled, The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia. The film is based on a true story and here is its description: “A historic Southern home’s new residents come face to face with a malevolent force.”

While watching, that was when it dawned on me that I was already familiar with the people portrayed in the film. I had seen them on other paranormal shows talking about their story and discussing the daughter’s ability of clairvoyance and communicating with the dead.

After I finished watching the film, it got me to thinking about ghosts and why some of them seem to be so malevolent. Perhaps their spirit isn’t actually malevolent at all. Maybe they just seem that way because they are trying to convey a message to the living. And after countless failed attempts of communication with the living, the ghosts become enraged because they have something to say but have no way of reaching the other side.

I know it may sound crazy, even far-fetched, but it made me think. So, by the time these ghosts finally find someone with whom they are able to communicate, they’re ready to unleash all their built-up emotions. And with the rush of feeling (and the fact that they’re dead) it’s easy to understand why the living can get so terrified by a paranormal encounter.

It makes total sense to me. Put yourself in their position. One day you’re walking down the street and all is well, then unfortunately something tragically out of the blue happens and you’re no longer part of the living. You’re now on the other side. You’re terrified, freaking out and you have no one to turn to. You try so hard to communicate with the living, but nothing – nadda. You try and try until one day your persistence finally becomes successful when you’re able to communicate with someone. But by this time, when you’re able to speak to a clairvoyant or whomever, you’ve got all this rush of excitement and that’s what scares the living because it becomes too overwhelming for them to handle.

Now this isn’t me in any way, shape or form, discarding all malevolent entities as non-malevolent. Extreme caution should always be utilized when investigating the paranormal because there are evil creatures/beings on the other side. So, be careful!

But the film did make me think and I wanted to share……

My Very First Paranormal Encounter

I was a small child, just barely school age when I had my first experience with the paranormal. I’ve never spoken publicly about it until now, not even at my public speaking events nor book signings have I ever brought up the incident of which I’m about to tell you. Yes, I’ve openly discussed my encounters with shadow people, being touched by spirits, my ability of being an empath and also my ability of angelic communication, but never openly discussed my first recollection of a paranormal encounter. Why? Because to many people, it may sound a bit macabre and strange.

Like I said earlier, I was a small child when it happened. A little girl all dressed up in Sunday clothes right after church services were over. The day was sunny and warm, and the church members were carrying on lighthearted conversations as they were walking out of the building. As my family conversed, my attention was oddly drawn towards the cemetery for no apparent reason, which was only a few feet away. This church was a small, country one with not a very big congregation at all. So the atmosphere was safe and there was no cause for concern as I walked towards the graves. The ground had been undisturbed for quite sometime, meaning that there had been no recent funerals to speak about. Yet, I was undeniably drawn to a particular grave for which I had no connection with. The deceased wasn’t a family member, nor a friend. In fact, the individual had been dead for many years prior to our joining the church. But as I neared the grave, I began to detect a very faint smell. It was one that I had never experienced before, quite fragrant and soft. The inviting smell drew me even closer to the peaceful plot.

Now keep in mind that no one followed me and that everyone from the church were several feet away, meaning that the scent from their perfume/cologne dissipated as I walked away from them. However, this new scent grew stronger as I approached the grave. It was so beautiful and intriguing that it made me want to investigate its origin. The headstone was void of any floral arrangements that would give plausible cause for the unexplained smell. So, I continued to let my nose lead the way which made me only inches above the ground. At this point, I was literally sniffing the Earth that was immediately below my nose. Only grass separated me from the dirt. Yet, this inconceivable fragrance had become even stronger. In my innocent mind I started seeing brief images of bones, like I was looking down into the grave below. Was I led to this spot by the deceased individual? Perhaps what I was smelling was the beautiful fragrance they wore when they were alive. Maybe the spirit of the deceased noticed my gift and wanted to connect with me.

I wanted so badly to take my little fingers and dig into the dirt so I could find out more, but was abruptly stopped upon my grandmother’s discovery. And ever since then, every time I see bones, I’m quickly reminded of the beautiful fragrance I’ve never experienced again. The incident still remains a mystery to me, a fascination that I will never forget.

Slumbering Terror

The door cracks open, a light shines through.
Boney fingers appear and I don’t know what to do.

I’m frozen still, trembling with fright.
Been stuck in this room for more than a night.

A frail body emerges with a smell that’s grotesque,
Carrying what might be a meal at best.
“Thought you could eat.” Their voice simply implies.
Then they remove the tray’s cover and that’s what makes me cry.

Before me, a vision so vile,
Causing me to taste my own stomach bile.
My urge to erupt becomes quite clear.
“You don’t like what I made for you, my dear?”
The feeble one asks then becomes enraged.
This four wall prison feels like a cage.

“Why are you doing this?” I tearfully implore.
“Because you are my pet.” They reply while walking out the door.
The sound of locks quickly engage,
Reminding me that I am their hostage.

I begin to convulse and scream obscenities I feel,
Trembling so badly that I wake from this wretched ordeal.

It was just a dream, a nightmare, a fright
That kept me from peaceful slumber all through the night.

Slumbering Terror

Dreams… or Premonitions?

Dreams come in many forms. For some people, dreams occur like random flashes of broken images while other individuals may experience visuals that are in-depth with extreme detail. Many people dream in various shades of black and white, and others dream in vivid colors. Dreams are as unique as the individual who has them. There are even people who claim they don’t dream at all. Some dreams can have such an effect on us that they may linger on our minds for days. However, some can become easily forgotten within minutes upon us waking.

And yet, there are those of us who have dreams that are more than mere fantasy. I’m speaking in regards to premonitions like the ones that I have. When I get premonitions, they happen like reoccurring dreams. Often, I will have them over a matter of weeks and more extreme ones have happened over a matter of a few years. For me, these reoccurring dreams (or premonitions as I like to call them) don’t cease until they actually happen in real life. Occasionally, I will get a premonition only once just prior to it becoming real.

Do I consider myself a seer? Absolutely not. I’ve never experienced visions like those reported by Michel de Nostredame, Edgar Cayce or even Sylvia Brown. I don’t even have visions on a regular basis. They’re not something that I can easily pull out of thin air either.

Some of the earliest premonitions that I can recall happened back when I was a little girl in elementary school. The visions weren’t anything epic, but nonetheless, they were still something to me. I could “see” events happening in advance and other similar things. Like I stated earlier, my premonitions occur during dreams. I, like everyone else, have ordinary dreams that aren’t premonitions. It’s easy for me to tell them apart. All my dreams and premonitions come to me very vividly and realistically. However, with my premonitions I get a feeling that’s kind of hard to explain. The best way for me to describe it would be to say that when I get a premonition dream, the vision is accompanied by an intense sense of “knowing”.

When I was a kid I wouldn’t speak about my visions, but as I got older, I would randomly say little things to my friends and they would be like, “how did you know?”. I would simply shrug my shoulders and laugh it off, being very nonchalant about it. Do I take my premonitions lightly? Of course not, but I don’t shy away from them either. I welcome them and always listen to my intuition.

Vampires: Bloodthirsty or Energy Fed?

Recently I watched the classic 1987 vampire film, The Lost Boys. Great cast, awesome storyline and a killer soundtrack! I was just eleven years old when I first watched it on the silver screen and it was at that young age when my fascination with the fanged creatures emerged.

The Lost Boys, a group of reckless youths embracing their immortality that try their best to recruit an unsuspecting newcomer into their bloodthirsty ranks. Reluctantly he resists, but with a struggle so defiant that he almost gives into temptation. The forces of good and evil battle it out with a nail biting ending that’s sure to satisfy the hunger of any horror fan.

I have honestly watched this movie so many times that I’ve seriously lost count. But every time that I watch it, it’s like watching it for the first time all over again. I loved the eccentric grandpa, especially when he used Windex as aftershave right before he left to go out on a date with the widow Johnson. That scene cracks me up every time! The grandpa even said one of my favorite movie quotes… “One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach; all the damn vampires.”

However alluring these creatures of the night may seem, romanticized by some of Hollywood’s finest, in the paranormal world a similar creature has been reported to exist.
It’s often referred to as an “energy vampire”. Unlike its popular counterpart, the energy vampire doesn’t have pearly white fangs that are waiting to pierce the warm flesh of its victims to taste the crimson nectar that we call blood. These preternatural beings are said to appear as shadows without any definite shape or form. How they “feed” is by finding a host (someone that the energy vampire can psychically latch onto) and drain the individual of their energy. This supernatural creature can emit negative energy that weighs its victim down emotionally, mentally and physically. Their victim can experience a great deal of exhaustion, possibly a lack of appetite and even depression that can become so intense through time that professional help may be required.

Having a positive mindset will strengthen one’s well-being and a fierce belief in one’s inner light can easily negate anything that’s negative. There’s an ethereal beauty that resides in the light within us and there is nothing that can darken our will power as long as we remain strong!

Edgar Cayce & The Akashic Records

There are people of all walks of life throughout history that have claimed to have the gift of foretelling the future. People like Michel de Nostradamus and Ellen G. White, but the one that really catches my attention is Edgar Cayce. Edgar Cayce was a devout Christian who was born March 18, 1877 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and died January 3, 1945 in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the respectful age of 67. He was a prophet who supposedly had the ability to tap into the Akashic Records. These intangible records are said to be a collection of mystical knowledge that’s been encoded on an ethereal plane of existence referred to as the astral plane. The Akashic Records are thought to include every single experience known to mankind since the beginning of time. These records are supposedly pretty intense because according to them, nothing is hidden. Every minute detail of our existence is said to be imprinted within them. However, there is no scientific validation that these records actually exist.

Edgar Cayce would often refer to the Akashic Records during many of his readings. While conducting the sessions, the people for whom he was doing the readings usually would not be present. Their questions, ranging from personal to health, would be given to Cayce. He would then lie down and enter a trance where he would access the Akashic Records. His wife, Gertrude Evans Cayce, guided the readings for him. Unfortunately, Cayce’s earlier readings were not documented, but according to an article in the Birmingham Post-Herald released in 1922, it stated that Cayce gave over 8,000 readings followed by an addition of up to 14,000 more readings after that date.

Edgar Cayce claimed that he didn’t remember anything mentioned during his sessions once he was out of the trance-like state. He believed that our unconscious minds have access to information that our conscious minds do not. Not only could Edgar Cayce tap into the Akashic Records, he also claimed to have the ability to perform astral projection, which is the ability to travel in astral form outside the physical body. Many people refer to this phenomenon as an out-of-body experience (OBE). Cayce was considered as a prophet who reported to have foreseen major events like both World Wars, the Great Depression and even the assassination of the 44th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy.

Skeptics believe that Cayce gathered his information for his predictions from the articles and books that he read. Skeptics also criticize Cayce’s support for alternative medicine, which they view as quackery. Edgar Cayce became quite the celebrity before his death. He was even known as the most documented psychic of the 20th century.

The Paranormal & Me

All my life the paranormal has always been there, and I don’t mean that I’ve been plagued by demons or anything sinister. It was never like that for me. Still, when I saw my first shadow person prior to my teen years, it scared the living daylights out of me. It manifested itself just out of the corner of my eye. It was night time in a very well-lit room. I could feel its eyes looking straight at me. That was what prompted me to look in its direction. As soon as I turned my head to meet its gaze, it vanished into thin air. Even though its presence was nothing malevolent, I was still terrified to no end. I stayed up all night, too afraid to sleep, until the sun came up the next morning.

I’ve had several encounters with shadow people throughout the years since then, but I’m no longer afraid. Unlike many people who have negative encounters with shadow people, mine are quite the opposite. I experience no malevolence at all with shadow people. It’s almost like I get a sense of observance from them. Their presence is always “split-second” when they appear, then they’re gone.

I’m also an empath. Always knew I was different, but never knew how to “label” my ability until I reached my adult years. An empath is someone who is highly sensitive (in the supernatural sense) to others’ energies and emotions. To many, this ability is often thought of as a curse. I used to think this way as well and that was only because I didn’t understand what was going on. But now it’s no longer a curse for me. Rather, I consider it a gift that I’m very proud to have.

Growing up I usually kept quiet about the paranormal, only spoke to very few about it. My selective silence was due to the judgmental fear of what others thought. I didn’t want anyone to think I was crazy. So often is the paranormal viewed by many as something that’s dark and evil. Although, that’s not necessarily the case. The paranormal realm does consist of entities that may bring forth malevolence, but so does the world of the living. There are wicked people that walk around every single day. Spirits can also be very loving and full of light. However the spirit was during their living state, is how they often are once they have passed on. Meaning, that a person can carry on the same characteristics even after death.

The study and research of paranormal activity is extremely fascinating to me. I openly embrace the unknown, but with caution. I never provoke the spiritual world. I would never recommend doing that. Don’t provoke the living and don’t provoke the dead. It’s all about respect, I believe. And just because someone finds interest in the paranormal doesn’t mean that they’re living a “dark life and going straight to hell”. That’s for the narrow minded to believe. To better understand things, one must open their mind. Knowledge is never ending. One of my all time favorite quotes is by Michelangelo. It says, “I am still learning.” … and yes, for me that even applies to the paranormal.

My First Paranormal Experience

How do you recharge?

Hi, everyone!! I am so excited about writing this post that I am going to jump right into it! 😊

Yesterday I got a lot of fresh, beautiful produce, so today what am I doing?? Dehydrating!! Green beans…. carrots ….. and cucumbers (which make a yummy alternative to potato chips!).

Anywho, I love eating healthy and promoting the importance of doing so. If you and I are connected on Facebook and Instagram, then you have seen a lot of my posts about homemade goodies. I try not to use butter (I use unsweetened applesauce instead when baking), egg whites instead of egg yolks…. Flourless recipes….. And sugar substitutes that do not contain aspartame. I am also a HUGE fan of produce, rather than processed foods which contain a lot of unhealthy ingredients that I can’t even begin to pronounce. So, with that being said…. If they’re big, super crazy words that ya can’t pronounce and it’s an ingredient that’s man-made, then it probably shouldn’t be put into the body.

Besides, produce…. Made by our beautiful Earth, so full of healing and healthy nutrients…. Amazing benefits…. And the colors of the produce!! I mean, look at what I got yesterday, those vibrant colors!! And so YUM!!

And yesterday I sauteed romaine lettuce… Which makes a delicious side dish!! So easy to make, I love it!!

Eating healthy and taking care of ourselves is extremely important in keeping our mental clarity in check. It helps us to focus on our abilities better. I know it helps me with being an Empath and psychic. Why? Because eating a lot of unhealthy fats, sugars and carbs make me feel sluggish and “Blah”… But eating right and drinking plenty of water help me feel on top of my game.

In recent years I have been taking better care of myself and listening more closely to my body. Which has helped heighten my psychic awareness and empathic ability all the more. My abilities are “finer tuned” now, meaning that I can pick up and sense things more easily.

So, see how taking care of ourselves is so important? I finally have….. I used to eat pop tarts and drink chocolate milk every morning…. Then, drink a soda with a bag of chips for lunch… And junk food throughout the day…. I felt horrible and it took me a long time to realize it was because of my daily food intake.

I still like to eat Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream on occasion, and other sweets…. But in moderation. And that is perfectly ok. But I do feel way better making the healthier choices in life.

In the following photo is what I am dehydrating today. My veggies have been lightly coated with garlic salt and pepper, and onion powder. I have the machine set at 158° and it should take around ten hours or so (maybe a little under, I’ll check periodically) until they’re fully dehydrated. And in the photo is a glass of cucumber infused water…. Mmmmmm……. 🥰

Staying fit and healthy for psychic awareness….. Life is beautiful!!

Stay blessed, everyone. You are all much loved!!

“Our Night at the Myrtles Plantation”

Our night at the Myrtles Plantation

(***A true paranormal encounter experienced by paranormal investigators, Lori and Brian Davies of NWA Ghost Connection.***)

John Winters Room

3 p.m. check in, we arrived at 2 p.m. anxious to get there and excited about crossing off a bucket list item. Brian bought me a night at the Myrtles for my 50th birthday gift. He knew it was on a list of things I wanted to do since I was nineteen. We purchased some things in the gift shop and checked in. We were taken to the house to see our room and my gift kicks in as the door opens. At the top of the stairs I was greeted by a woman who appeared to be in mourning. She was in a black dress with a veil coming down over her face. I was taken a back by her but proceeded up the large staircase that led into the house to our room. The young lady who showed us to our room politely stated all the rules of the house and then opened our door and handed Brian the keys. Our night began.

We walked in and acquainted ourselves with the room, all the while this woman standing in our doorway. I asked Brian if he had seen or sensed anything. He said how weird it was, the water started dripping in the tub and he tried to turn the water off, but it was tightly off (weird). We had a quick, odd moment and he left to go get our luggage for the night. I sat in the chair in the corner watching her and when alone I asked her what her name was and she replied, “Sara M Bradford”, and then walked in a little girl who stood along side her in a pretty, little blue dress and blondish-brown hair. I assumed had some relation to her, but the child wouldn’t speak to me.

I heard a commotion in the hall and stuck my head out when I encountered another employee of the Myrtles and I asked her if I could ask her a question, she replied sure and came into the room. I then asked her if she had heard of this Sara or knew of her or was my being a medium allowing everyone to come through. She took two steps back and asked me, Sara? I replied, yes, she is standing right there pointing towards the door, she said her name was Sara M Bradford. The lady looked at me and smiled and said you are the first one who has called her that. I responded, called her what, Sara? She said no, calling her by her maiden name, Bradford. The employee then said her name was Sara Matilda Bradford Woodruff and her father built the Myrtles.

After some light conversation she invited me to do a private tour, with me being a physical medium she wanted me to walk the home and tell them what I could see and hear along with feel. I agreed because I was curious about her story and why she was so sad. As the night went on I ended up hurting my knee and had a difficult time walking, so of course I couldn’t walk the house and I wonder to this very day if that was the plan the whole time. During the night in our room the curtain continuously moved on just one side, the chandelier rotated back and forth and then my fan got knocked over against the wall which created a level of uneasiness. At this time I pulled out our infrared camera and began to take pictures and, what do you know, there she was in all her glory. My husband ran downstairs to talk to the tour guide and showed her the photo and, what do you know, she identified her as Sara.

They were so excited to see this photo and sad I could not do my private walk and as they were all looking at this photo I took I was settling in to sleep because I was in pain from my knee. Brian came back up and we took several videos of the excitement in our room and then decided to sleep so I could rest before the long drive home. Well, the night was crazy as around 2 a.m. I saw a man at the foot of our bed dressed in confederate attire and just starring at me. I was unnerved and asked him what he wanted, which was when I began to taste blood and have stomach issues and he pointed at the wall and disappeared, well…..that was interesting, and the footsteps and humming I heard all night made it difficult to sleep.

As day break rose, I was seriously done at this point and Brian woke up and I needed to leave, with all the energies in that home, lack of sleep, hurt knee, I think I had seen enough of the house for this trip. I have since promised to go back to walk the house for the woman and send them a copy of my photo so they can share my night with Sara. All I could gather from her was how sad she was for all her loss of children, father, and husband. She just did not get to live how she wanted. The humming was from the room we stayed in which was the old nursery, go figure… all in all, it was a sleepless night, but I do recommend the stay just for the interaction with the spirit world. The John Winters room was definitely a hit on my night.
