Year Five!! What a time to thrive!!!

WHOA!!!! WAIT!!! Where did the time go?! It’s been five awesome years since I created this blog and since then I have met soooooo many fantastic people!! I want to take this extremely special opportunity to thank each and every single one of you for being the amazing individuals that you are!! Let’s take a moment to….. *HAPPY DANCE* ūüėÄ

By writing and publishing my articles, it gives me the chance to not only learn from the research that I conduct, but also to learn from all of you. And just like one of my all time fave quotes go…. “I am still learning.” ~ Michelangelo¬†….. (which is so true) it really does speak volumes. The day that any one of us claims to have learned it all, is a sad day to behold, because it doesn’t matter who we are or what we do, there will always be more to learn.

I thank you all for being such wonderful inspirations. I hope everyone realizes their worth and how extremely important you are. Let each day be the start of something new, something so phenomenal that it excites you to be alive! Life is full of miraculous and beautiful things. We have to have the right mindset to see it, know it, and feel it with every fiber of our being. We are not here on this beautiful planet that we call home to “just exist”, we are all here to coexist to the absolute best of our ability!

Continue to share those positive vibes and pay it forward! You are massively appreciated and you are seriously loved! Together we can help each other rise above adversity and become the radiant stars that we are destined to be! Please don’t ever let anyone dim your light. We do have a purpose. Keep shining for all the world to see!!!

YOU ROCK!!!!!!! ‚̧

Love & Light,

Sheila

Hellhounds: Such Naughty Lil’ Pooches

Popularly known as¬†‚ÄúThe Bearers of Death‚ÄĚ.¬†These mangled, black furred, dog-like beasts have existed in legends for centuries. They‚Äôre reported to be supernatural in nature and possess ghostly characteristics with a foul odor. They‚Äôre also known to terrorize their victims with their gnarling sharp teeth and razor claws. They have red glowing eyes, super strength and speed, and may even have a fiery appearance with hellish abilities.

According to European folklore, many have claimed that if a person stares into a hellhound’s eyes three or more times, or hear its terrifying howl, it could be an omen or possibly the cause of that individual’s death.

These naughty little pooches’ purpose? Often, to protect the entrances to the realms of those who have passed on, like burial grounds and cemeteries. The nefarious beasts may be responsible for other ghastly duties like protecting unearthly treasure and/or hunting the souls of the lost.

The tale of these ferocious creatures is well-known throughout Great Britain. The Isle of Man has their own version referred to as¬†‚ÄúModdey Dhoo‚Äú. Wales has their‚Äôs known as¬†‚ÄúGwyllgi‚ÄĚ. The¬†‚ÄúCadejo‚ÄĚ, according to Central American folklore, is a large black canine that haunts those who walk late into the night on country roads.

As stated earlier, hellhounds are referred to as ‚ÄúThe Bearers of Death‚ÄĚ. These creatures were given this title because it was alleged that they were created by ancient demons to serve as heralds of death. Sightings have been documented all throughout history, including locations within the United States: Louisiana, Kentucky, Connecticut, Hawaii, Ohio and then even abroad in Vilseck, Germany.¬†The hellhound known as¬†‚ÄúBlack Shuck‚Ä̬†roams the Norfolk, Essex and Suffolk coastline of England. It has been seen lurking around graveyards, dark forests and crossroads.¬†According to Catalan myth, their version of the foreboding beast is referred to as¬†‚ÄúDip‚ÄĚ: The Devil‚Äôs emissary who sucks its victim‚Äôs blood.

Just a few years ago the London-Based archaeology group, DigVentures discovered the skeleton of a gigantic dog from a shallow grave less than two feet deep in the ruins of Leiston Abbey, Suffolk. According to the¬†archaeologists, they stated that the dog‚Äôs height was more than seven feet on its rear legs and weighed around 200 pounds. The DigVentures team believes that the skeletal remains likely date back to medieval times. It is possible that the canine was a rather large hunting dog and perhaps possibly the initial spark that created the legend of¬†‚ÄúBlack Shuck‚ÄĚ.

So, makes one wonder doesn’t it? Do nefarious creatures like the demonic hellhound really exist? Or are they the product of superstitious minds who possess wild imaginations?

A little something to think about while sitting alone in a slightly dimmed room on a dark and stormy night. And don‚Äôt worry if you hear slight scratching on the window beside you. It‚Äôs probably just the wind blowing a tree limb that‚Äôs causing the noise, or‚Ķ. maybe it‚Äôs not‚Ķ.. perhaps it‚Äôs a hellhound trying to claw its way in‚Ķ‚Ķ‚Ķ¬†ūüėȬ†***HOWLS!!!***

Village Point in Daphne, Alabama

A tree to see with amazing history along with an old burial site known as D’Olive Cemetery….

Yesterday, Clay and I went to a really cool place located not far from where we live. It’s a historical site called Village Point in Daphne, Alabama. Here we got to see one of Alabama’s largest and oldest oak trees known as Jackson’s Oak. It is called the Jackson Oak after Andrew Jackson. He made a speech from one of its branches to his men before they marched onto Pensacola during the War of 1812. Also, troops were landed near here by Admiral Farragut during the Civil War to¬†capture Blakely and Spanish Fort. This tree was also included as a map reference for the original Spanish land grant in 1792.

Another interesting fact about Village Point is that there is an old cemetery dating back to the early 1800s, the D’Olive Cemetery. Some of the headstones have French writing on them.

Village Point isn’t only a location that’s rich in history, it’s also full of beautiful nature trails and wildlife. Such an awesome place to check out!!

Jackson’s Oak is a beautiful and magnificent tree. Standing in front of it just demonstrates its magnitude.
