Disconnecting to Reconnect!

Happy Thursday, everyone! Hope you’re all doing well! It definitely has been an exciting and extremely busy time lately. So much going on with writing, working, scheduling a couple of upcoming events…… and getting my younger son prepared to go off to college in less than two weeks!!! That last part….. ripping my heart out!! LOL…. I feel the “empty nest syndrome” seriously coming on! But all is good. My son is moving onto a wonderful new chapter in his life! The waterworks have been well underway these past few days as we are getting the last minute details taken care of. He laughs at my reminiscing of the past eighteen years as I tell him how proud of him that me and my husband are and how inspiring of a young man that he is to us. With his kindhearted smile he says, “Oh, Mom…” …. I can’t help but to smile even more when he says things like that. Moments like that are sweet and precious to me. *sigh*  🙂

And since there is a lot going on right now, I’ve recently taken a hiatus from a few things including social media. I uninstalled all social media apps from my phone. I still have my profiles and can access them from the computer whenever I am on it and am very happy to do so. I will always love talking with everyone!

But I am taking this hiatus to focus on family time as my son goes off to college. Also, I’m taking this time as a “recharging time”, and let me tell ya, it has been absolutely wonderful!!! Not just on a “family level”, but also on a “personal level”. I’ve started meditating daily, learning new breathing techniques to help purify the body and channel positive energy, and making sure to go outside and walk barefoot to feel the beautiful Earth below my feet. As I’ve been doing that, I have brought my towel outside, got into a comfortable meditative position to become one with Nature. To feel the breeze gently blow around me, feel the sun’s rays on my skin and hear the birds. On Sunday there was even some thunder rolling off in the distance as the sun shined high in the sky with billowy clouds floating by…. pure serenity! I’ve also started listening to pan flute music while meditating, which is AMAZING!!! Highly recommend! Here are a few songs on YouTube that are beautiful!! I have to share with ya! If you meditate, incorporate them into your sessions. One word…. Relaxing!”

However, uninstalling from my phone certain apps to “disconnect”, I have discovered one app that I have fallen absolutely in love with! Here’s the link….

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.deeprelax.deepmeditation&hl=en_US

Just like the description says, “Deep Meditation: Relaxation & Sleep Meditation App”, and it’s FREE!!! I’ve had it since Monday and use it literally every single day. It’s extremely easy to navigate, and thank goodness because I am so technologically challenged. It does run very few adds, but not enough to be bothersome at all, and the adds never run during any meditation session. Only briefly for like a quick second when selecting a meditation option and no sound accompanies any of the adds. As soon as I see one, I just simply click it off. There is an option to pay for the app if one wants to remove the adds, but like I said, the adds are so few (hardly do I see one) that they aren’t a bother at all.

I love that the app has different types of meditation to choose from. Here are the ones in their selection: “Breathe”, Mindfulness Sessions”, “Deep Muscle Relaxation”, “Escapes”, “Classical Sessions”, and “Sleep Series”. The app also has awesome music to help relax one’s spirit, and throughout the day it sends little reminders of positive affirmation (that I love!). For example one will say, “If you want to relax, watch the clouds pass by if you’re laying on the grass, or sit in front of the creek, just doing nothing and having those still moments is what really rejuvenates the body.” or here’s another one… “There is a calmness to a life lived in gratitude, a quiet joy.”.

At night, I’ve been using the “Sleep Series” before going to bed and it really does work. It helps greatly in calming my mind and relaxing my body which helps me to feel so much more rested. Honestly, I fell asleep during last night’s session because it worked so well. With the “Deep Muscle Relaxation” category, there are the different timed body scans that last five minutes, or twenty minutes, or thirty minutes, or forty-five minutes, depending on how long the individual wants the session to last. The body scans peacefully target different parts of the body, focusing on sending breath to each location, helping the mind, body and spirit to become aware of our breathing. Phenomenal techniques!

Since I’ve started “disconnecting to reconnect”, I have felt so much more at one and at peace with my surroundings. There is such a beautiful calmness that I’m discovering during this time of transition. Even though my baby, the grown man that he has become, is going off to college, I am also taking this time to reawaken myself.

So, definitely beautiful and fantastic things are happening! I hope for you all as well!

Remember to stay positive, pay it forward and always know that you rock!!! Wake up each and every single day knowing how truly amazing you are! Take a deep look in the mirror and see your inner light emerge, allowing it to shine so brightly that it illuminates any and everyone that you encounter! Let your smile be what makes someone else’s day all the more enjoyable! Stay blessed!!!

Much Love & Light!! ~ Sheila

Monsters: Real or??

Yes, monsters are definitely real! Now, I’m not talking about fictional ones like Grendel in the epic poem, Beowulf, or even H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu in The Call of Cthulhu. But then again, who’s to say that they weren’t inspired by real monsters. I am a strong believer that there is a basis for everything, including fictional things. It just all depends on each individual’s perspective.

On occasion while doing paranormal talks or being the guest on radio shows, I’ve been asked what’s the most frightening thing I’ve ever encountered, and my answer has always been this…. I have experienced many things regarding the paranormal from seeing shadow figures, visions in my mind’s eye, being touched by apparitions, hearing unexplained sounds, smelling unexplained odors/fragrances and being able to “feel” things with my empathic ability. But, with all that being said, and I’ve had some pretty freaky experiences, none of that has ever compared to the real monsters that exist out there in the real world.

I’m referring to the ones that we all have seen on the six o’clock news. The vile, heartless individuals that prey on the weak and the innocent. The ones who live double lives and show completely no remorse for their despicable actions. The rapists, the murderers, etc….. The ones who are our neighbors that, while out tending to their flower gardens, smile and wave to us as we drive by.

Many are prominent figures in society. One that comes to mind is Dennis Rader, a.k.a the “BTK Killer”, a serial killer convicted of murdering ten people. He was an active member in his church and a Cub Scout leader. Knowing that alone gives me chills!

Then, there was the charismatic Ted Bundy, another serial killer who kidnapped, raped, and murdered many young ladies during the 1970s. It terrifies me that so many fell victim because of his “good looks and charm”.

And the above are just a couple of the countless murderers throughout history. Other ones are political figures and leaders such as Hitler and Stalin. Not to mention certain religious dignitaries that have been convicted of sex crimes against members of their own churches.

What about the disgusting news reports regarding child care and/or nursing home providers who neglect and/or abuse loved ones…. or even rape them…. the ones they’ve been entrusted to care for.

It’s people like these so-called “human beings”  who are the ones that I’m referring to when I say that monsters are definitely real. Anyone with a heart wouldn’t dare do the horrific acts executed by these blackened souls.

Now, I can go on and on, but I choose not to. I refuse to give these monsters the notoriety that many of them seek, for whatever selfish reasons they may have or had. That’s the reason why I cannot stand to turn on the car radio in the morning to listen to a broadcast on the way to work, or watch the evening news. So much negativity is out there, it’s draining! That’s why I try so hard to constantly spread positive vibes, in hopes to brighten people…. not bring them down.  I’ve actually been criticized for being “too bubbly”. That cracked me up because my cheerful disposition literally ticked someone off. My response? “Oh well!” … lol ….

Anywho…. not ranting here, but just wanted to get that out there. Yes, I do believe in monsters. However, that’s why when I’m asked what’s the most frightening paranormal thing I’ve ever encountered was? I always answer that the most frightening thing I’ve ever encountered was from the living, not the dead. I don’t fear the paranormal, only the human “monsters” that are seen, and often go unnoticed for their crimes in our society.

Year Five!! What a time to thrive!!!

WHOA!!!! WAIT!!! Where did the time go?! It’s been five awesome years since I created this blog and since then I have met soooooo many fantastic people!! I want to take this extremely special opportunity to thank each and every single one of you for being the amazing individuals that you are!! Let’s take a moment to….. *HAPPY DANCE* 😀

By writing and publishing my articles, it gives me the chance to not only learn from the research that I conduct, but also to learn from all of you. And just like one of my all time fave quotes go…. “I am still learning.” ~ Michelangelo ….. (which is so true) it really does speak volumes. The day that any one of us claims to have learned it all, is a sad day to behold, because it doesn’t matter who we are or what we do, there will always be more to learn.

I thank you all for being such wonderful inspirations. I hope everyone realizes their worth and how extremely important you are. Let each day be the start of something new, something so phenomenal that it excites you to be alive! Life is full of miraculous and beautiful things. We have to have the right mindset to see it, know it, and feel it with every fiber of our being. We are not here on this beautiful planet that we call home to “just exist”, we are all here to coexist to the absolute best of our ability!

Continue to share those positive vibes and pay it forward! You are massively appreciated and you are seriously loved! Together we can help each other rise above adversity and become the radiant stars that we are destined to be! Please don’t ever let anyone dim your light. We do have a purpose. Keep shining for all the world to see!!!

YOU ROCK!!!!!!! ❤

Love & Light,

Sheila

“Our Night at the Myrtles Plantation”

Our night at the Myrtles Plantation

(***A true paranormal encounter experienced by paranormal investigators, Lori and Brian Davies of NWA Ghost Connection.***)

John Winters Room

3 p.m. check in, we arrived at 2 p.m. anxious to get there and excited about crossing off a bucket list item. Brian bought me a night at the Myrtles for my 50th birthday gift. He knew it was on a list of things I wanted to do since I was nineteen. We purchased some things in the gift shop and checked in. We were taken to the house to see our room and my gift kicks in as the door opens. At the top of the stairs I was greeted by a woman who appeared to be in mourning. She was in a black dress with a veil coming down over her face. I was taken a back by her but proceeded up the large staircase that led into the house to our room. The young lady who showed us to our room politely stated all the rules of the house and then opened our door and handed Brian the keys. Our night began.

We walked in and acquainted ourselves with the room, all the while this woman standing in our doorway. I asked Brian if he had seen or sensed anything. He said how weird it was, the water started dripping in the tub and he tried to turn the water off, but it was tightly off (weird). We had a quick, odd moment and he left to go get our luggage for the night. I sat in the chair in the corner watching her and when alone I asked her what her name was and she replied, “Sara M Bradford”, and then walked in a little girl who stood along side her in a pretty, little blue dress and blondish-brown hair. I assumed had some relation to her, but the child wouldn’t speak to me.

I heard a commotion in the hall and stuck my head out when I encountered another employee of the Myrtles and I asked her if I could ask her a question, she replied sure and came into the room. I then asked her if she had heard of this Sara or knew of her or was my being a medium allowing everyone to come through. She took two steps back and asked me, Sara? I replied, yes, she is standing right there pointing towards the door, she said her name was Sara M Bradford. The lady looked at me and smiled and said you are the first one who has called her that. I responded, called her what, Sara? She said no, calling her by her maiden name, Bradford. The employee then said her name was Sara Matilda Bradford Woodruff and her father built the Myrtles.

After some light conversation she invited me to do a private tour, with me being a physical medium she wanted me to walk the home and tell them what I could see and hear along with feel. I agreed because I was curious about her story and why she was so sad. As the night went on I ended up hurting my knee and had a difficult time walking, so of course I couldn’t walk the house and I wonder to this very day if that was the plan the whole time. During the night in our room the curtain continuously moved on just one side, the chandelier rotated back and forth and then my fan got knocked over against the wall which created a level of uneasiness. At this time I pulled out our infrared camera and began to take pictures and, what do you know, there she was in all her glory. My husband ran downstairs to talk to the tour guide and showed her the photo and, what do you know, she identified her as Sara.

They were so excited to see this photo and sad I could not do my private walk and as they were all looking at this photo I took I was settling in to sleep because I was in pain from my knee. Brian came back up and we took several videos of the excitement in our room and then decided to sleep so I could rest before the long drive home. Well, the night was crazy as around 2 a.m. I saw a man at the foot of our bed dressed in confederate attire and just starring at me. I was unnerved and asked him what he wanted, which was when I began to taste blood and have stomach issues and he pointed at the wall and disappeared, well…..that was interesting, and the footsteps and humming I heard all night made it difficult to sleep.

As day break rose, I was seriously done at this point and Brian woke up and I needed to leave, with all the energies in that home, lack of sleep, hurt knee, I think I had seen enough of the house for this trip. I have since promised to go back to walk the house for the woman and send them a copy of my photo so they can share my night with Sara. All I could gather from her was how sad she was for all her loss of children, father, and husband. She just did not get to live how she wanted. The humming was from the room we stayed in which was the old nursery, go figure… all in all, it was a sleepless night, but I do recommend the stay just for the interaction with the spirit world. The John Winters room was definitely a hit on my night.
